“So she said to him, ‘My father, you have given your word to the Lord; do to me as you have said, since the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the sons of Ammon.’ ”
- This verse references Jephthah’s vow to God. He promised that if God used him to defeat the sons of Ammon that he would offer the first thing that greeted him on his return home as a burnt offering. His only daughter, also his only child, greeted him. Upon learning of the vow the daughter calmly accepted her fate instead of fighting it.
- It’s hard to even fathom the amount of faith and trust this girl had in the Lord. It’s remarkable.
- This verse also makes me thankful for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He paid our debts and because of His act of love we no longer have to worry about things like burnt offerings.
I stretched for 30 minutes yesterday and prayed for about 15. I wish I had prayed longer, but some time is always better than no time.
Today I’m feeling very productive and I’m looking forward to a weekend full of fellowship, time with friends, and enjoying my blessings from the Lord.
