Readings: 1 Samuel, chapters 11-15
“Do you think all God wants are sacrifices, empty rituals just for show? He wants you to listen to Him! Plain listening is the thing, not staging a lavish religious production. Not doing what God tells you is far worse than fooling around with the occult. Getting self-important around God is far worse than making deals with your dead ancestors. Because you said No to God’s command, he says No to your kingship.”
1 Samuel 15:22-23
- In this verse Samuel is speaking to Saul after Saul blatantly ignored God’s instructions.
- It is significant because it reinforces the idea that the greatest sin is pride. God hates when people get “self-important” around Him. Acting self-important goes in direct opposition to what God calls us to do, which is to submit to His will.
Last night I took care of a few of my personal matters and I feel like a elephant has been lifted off my shoulders. It’s funny how things that stress us out often have no reason to be stressful, we just make them that way in our minds.
I prayed and stretched for 20 minutes each yesterday. While that’s not quite 30, I feel glad I did something rather than nothing 🙂
