Readings: 2 Chronicles, chapters 11-15
“Asa heard the prophecy of Azariah son of Obed, took a deep breath, then rolled up his sleeves, and went to work. He cleaned out the obscene and polluting sacred shrines from the whole country of Judah and Benjamin and from the towns he had taken in the hill country of Ephraim. He spruced up the Altar of God that was in front of The Temple porch. Then he called an assembly for all Judah and Benjamin, including those from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who were living there at the time (for many Israel had left their homes and joined forces with Asa when they saw that God was on his side).”
2 Chronicles 15:8-9
- In these verses Asa realizes that he has let the country stray from following God. So he takes immediate action to get the country back on course and God took notice. We are sinful beings and it is important to remember to repent and to take immediate action to get back on track when we do.
The past week or so I have been feeling less inspired, less full of life than usual. After reading these chapters this morning I realized why. I haven’t been reading my bible everyday, I haven’t been praying everyday, and I’ve been watching my church sermons online instead of attending in person. No wonder I feel less inspired… I haven’t been putting God first. I want to be like Asa and take immediate action to re-center my life on God.
