Time: 7:52 AM

Weather: Looks sunny and cool

Readings: Ezra, chapters 6-10

Noteworthy Verse:

“Then Ezra left the plaza in front of the Temple of God and went to the home of Jehohanan son of Eliashib where he stayed, still fasting from food and drink, continuing his mourning over the betrayal by the exiles.”

Ezra 10:6

Significance:

  • This is second time I noticed fasting mentioned in these chapters.  Ezra fasted and prayed when he was seeking safety during his journey to the Temple of God… and again he is fasting while mourning over the actions taken by the exiles.  God gave him protection during his journey… and God gave him wisdom on how to handle the betrayal.
  • I have not spiritually fasted in my life, but clearly it is a method of communicating with God that the Lord respects and listens to.

Feelings:
I’m feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of things to get done now that I’m back home… but I’m trying to stay focused and productive and remember that God will help me take care of it.
