Time: 8:47 AM
Weather: Surprisingly warm, the sun is slowly coming out
Readings: Esther, chapters 1-5
“When Hathach told Mordecai what Ester had said, Mordecai sent her this message: ‘Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive from someplace else, but you and your family, will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.’ ”
- In this verse Mordecai is referring to the decree made by Haman, and supported by King Xerxes, to massacre all the Jews. At the time very people knew, including King Xerxes, that his wife, Queen Esther, was a Jew.
- This verse is an important reminder to stand up for Christ. If you are timid, a future of safety is still not promised to you. So it is best to be a soldier for Christ and to stand strong for Him even in times of uncertainty. After all, a moment of bravery may be a part of God’s plan for us.
I had a very uncomfortable encounter with someone close to me yesterday. I’m praying that God will make it clear how to proceed…
